Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

We believe in a God who exists, communicates, creates, sacrifices, rescues, indwells, pursues, and rules. The Bible is our bottom line. It shapes everything about our lives and our theology.

God Exists (The Triune God)
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - who are coequal in every divine perfection.  The persons of the Godhead execute distinct, but unified roles in the working out of creation, providence, and redemption. (Genesis 1:1-3;Deuteronomy 6:4;Isaiah 48:16;1 Peter 1:2;Matthew 3:16-17;28:19;John 1:1-14;2 Corinthians 13:14;1 John 5:7)

God Communicates (The Bible)
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, and without error in the original manuscripts.  It is authoritative over all matters of life. Our daily responsibility is to yield to God's Word. (Proverbs 30:5;John 17:17;Romans 15:4;II Timothy 3:16-17;II Peter 1:19-21;1 John 5:3)

God Creates (Creation and Man's Fall)
We believe God is the creator and sustainer of the universe and all that it contains. He created everything for His enjoyment and glory. God created man uniquely in His image, for the purpose of knowing, enjoying and glorifying his Creator. Man chose rebellion and disobedience against God, thereby marring the image of God upon him and bringing the effects of sin into the world. Through Adam's sin, all people are now born with an inherited nature that separates them from God, causing them to live in a state of spiritual blindness and rebellion against Him. (Genesis 1:1,26-27, 2:7,15-17;Exodus 20:11;Psalm 8:1; Hebrews 11:3;John 1:3;Colossians 1:16; Romans 5:12, 3:10-11; Ephesians 2:1)

God Sacrifices (Jesus Christ)
We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal son of God, is fully God.  Without ceasing to be God, He took on human flesh, being conceived by the Holy Spirit, and being born of a virgin. He subsequently lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and revealed God through His life and teachings. We believe He died a substitutionary death on the cross to make possibile the forgiveness of man's sin. We believe His bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven demonstrates His power over death and His ability to forgive sin. We believe Jesus will return to earth, personally and visibly, where He will judge the living and the dead. (Isaiah 7:14;53:2; John 1:1-3,14, 8:58-59,10:30-33; Colossians 1:15-17;Philippians 2:5-7; Hebrews 1:2-3, 2:18Revelation 22:20.)

God Rescues (Salvation)
We believe that man cannot merit salvation through a life of good deeds, but that salvation is a gift of God alone.  We believe that God sovereignly draws men to repentance through the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the proclamation of the Gospel. Those who respond in faith to the good news of Jesus' substitutionary death and resurrection receive the gift of new life and stand positionally righteous before a Holy God. We see God's extravagant love and His perfect justice demonstrated through the cross of Jesus. (John 3:16, 6:40-44Romans 3:25, 5:8, 5:18-198:1, 10:9-10,14-15; Philippians 3:9; II Corinthians 5:17; Hebrews 10:12)

God Indwells (The Holy Spirit)
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer in Christ. He leads, guides, teaches, and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs at conversion and marks the adoption of the new believer into the body of Christ. We believe that God gives spiritual gifts, according to His sovereign choice, to every believer. Spiritual gifts are given by God solely for the building up of the body and are to be exercised in a spirit of love and humility.  No particular gift is necessary to demonstrate the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit always works in ways that unify the body of Christ and glorify Jesus.  Our daily responsibility is to yield to to God's spirit.  (John 14:26, 16:7-15, Romans 8:9, Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:4-5, 30, 5:18; 1 Corinthians 12:7-13; Acts 4:31;1 Peter 4:10-11)

God's Mission (The Church)
We believe that the Church is a spiritual organism consisting of all true born-again believers. Every believer is called to associate with a local church for the purpose of worship, service, fellowship, accountability, training and equipping, and mission. We recognize the ordinances of believer's baptism and the Lord's supper (communion) as testimonies for the church to practice. The church is to be led by spiritually qualifed men, under the leadership of Jesus. We believe that God has entrusted to the local church the primary mission of representing Jesus to the world. (Matthew 5:14,16:18, Acts 2:42, Acts 8;36-38,14:23, Romans 6:3-4)

God Rules (The Last Things)
We believe in the personal visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of men, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked in hell. (John 14:1-3; Luke 12:40; Romans 16:20;1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:11-14, 20:1-6; 22:1-7)
